Suzhiyam (சுழியம்) for Diwali Breakfast

Ingredients
  • 1 cup of thick idly batter
  • ½ cup grated coconut(Thuruvina Thengai),
  • ½ cup grated jaggery(vellam)
  • ½ cup chana dal(kadalai paruppu)
  • Elachi(Pooranam for the filling)
  • coconut oil for frying.
Instructions
  1. Take chana dal and soak it for 1 hour
  2. drain the water completely and then add it to the mixie jar
  3. add grated coconut, jaggery, and cardamom powder, grind it to a smooth paste.
  4. Make balls out of the chana dal Purnam
  5. Heat oil(low to medium) and then drop the purnam in the idli batter, coat well.
  6. and then drop it in the suzhiyam in the hot oil.
  7. Turn both sides and fry well.
  8. once it started to golden remove from stove.
  9. Suzhiyam is ready to serve.
Notes
use thick idli batter to make Suzhiyam otherwise it suck more oil.
don't add water while grinding otherwise the batter will start melting.

Kadalai Paruppu Puranam Preparation

Take chana dal and soak it for 1-hour. drain the water completely and then add it to the mixie jar
add grated coconut, jaggery, and cardamom powder, grind it to a smooth paste.
Make balls out of the chana dal Purnam.

Suzhiyam Preparation using idli batter
Heat oil(low to medium) and then drop the Purnam in the idli batter, coat well.
and then drop it in the Suzhiyam in the hot oil. Turn both sides and fry well.
once it started to golden remove from stove. Suzhiyam is ready to serve.
