Tomato Jam for Biryani, Thakkali sweet Pachadi recipe, Thakkali Jam, Inippu Pachadi
Tomato Jam for Biryani is served as a dessert in Tamil weddings called Thakkali sweet Pachadi, Tomato Sweet Pachadi made with riped Tomatoes, cardamom for flavor and dates & sugar for sweetness. It’s called Inippu Pachadi in the colonial language. I already shared a version of Tomato jam recipe using the combo of Tomato and Prune which is a healthier version than this. But till I want to post this recipe which is a crowd pleaser and its definitely because of the color. Honestly, I didn’t use any food color to make this Tomato Jam, the color is because of the tomatoes and dates combo and of course the sugar gave the glossy look of the Jam. Do check this delicious Thakkali Sevai recipe for Breakfast.
I have used 4 tomatoes and 200 g of deseeded dates for that I have added less than 1/2 cup sugar. Usually, for 4 tomatoes we need at least 3/4 to 1 cups of sugar then only the jam will become thick but adding the dates does that magic of reduction of sugar quantity and the jam also looks thick and creamy.
Making the Tomato Jam for Biryani is not a big Kambasuthram but just we need to bring it the right consistency. for that just we need to make sure the measurement of sugar, dates, and tomatoes that it. If you are allergic to dates just ignore it and add sugar.
