Boiled Peanuts(Avicha Kadalai), How to Boil Shelled Peanuts in an Instant Pot

Boiled Peanuts are the Healthy Snacks, that we can pack kids’ snack boxes or we can serve them after school snacks. we may think the peanut is not much healthy. Boiled peanuts contain fewer calories than raw or roasted peanuts, with around 116 calories per 1/4 cup (146 grams) which is a very good snack for Adults too. Most of the time of evening snack is boiled peanuts and Green tea. It’s a very good filling till dinner you don’t feel like eating anything.

After lunch, I will take a power nap(Kutty Thookam) for 15 to 10 mins, that time I just keep the Instant pot on and put boil the peanuts, and sleep. Once I got up it is super hot cooked well. Meantime kids and Hubby are back from School and Office. we chit-chat and enjoy the peanuts. This is how Instant Pot is very useful for our everyday life. We no need to wait till the pressure to release and we need to count the whistle and switch off. Instant pot automatically does its job and is less time-consuming.

How to Boil Peanuts in a Instant Pot(Avicha Verkadalai Recipe):

wash and rinse the peanuts thoroughly 2 to 3 times in the water. Make sure there is no sand or dust in it. Transfer the Peanuts to the Instant pot. Add water just to immerse the peanut. Don’t add so much water. For example, if you are using 1/2 kg peanuts add 3 to 4 cups of water. Increase or decrease according to the Peanuts used. Today I used 1/2 kg peanut so I have added 3 cups of water.

Add 1 tbsp salt and cover the lid, make sure that the vent is sealed.

Pressure cook for 30 mins in high. After 30 mins let the pressure release by itself. Don’t release the pressure manually.

That’s it Peanut is cooked well. You can serve hot Verkadalai along with coffee or tea.

Further using the peanut you can Make Beach Style sundal or Salads too.

How to Boil Peanuts in Pressure Cooker:

wash and rinse the peanuts thoroughly 2 to 3 times in the water. Make sure there is no sand or dust in it. Transfer the Peanuts to the Pressure Cooker. Add water just to immerse the peanut. Don’t add so much water. For example, if you are using 1/2 kg peanuts add 3 to 4 cups of water. Increase or decrease according to the Peanuts used. Today I used 1/2 kg peanut so I have added 3 cups of water.

Add 1 tbsp salt and cover the lid and pressure cook for 2 to 3 whistles in medium flame. once done switch off the stove. Don’t open the lid immediately, after 10 mins, pressure is released, and then open the lid. That’s it Pressure-cooked Peanut ready to serve.
