Today sharing the kara kuzhambu same kuzhambu recipe you can try with vegetables of your choices also poriyal you can substitute with any type of vegetables. Just sharing the Idea how I am making & packing the lunch box within 45 mins. If vegetables are handy we can finish our cooking within 45 mins not more than that. Also we make sure we are sending the healthy lunch box for the kids.

Pre Preparation for Kara Kuzhambu & Poriyal:

I cook the Senai in Instant pot along with rice & vegetables for Poriyal. It took 15 mins for them to cook, and making the kara kuzhambu & poriyal will take hardly 15 mins. For Kara kuzhambu i peel the senai and then dice them into small cubes. Transfer it to a container, add 3 tbsp of Tamarind Extract + Salt(Do check How to make Tamarind Extract) cooking with Tamarind Extract will reduces the tongue itchiness. & enhance the taste. Also with Senai(yam) finely chopped beans, carrot, cabbage + 3 tbsp on top steamed with 2 tbsp of water & top container always Rice. This is cooking method i always follow.

Senai Kizhangu Kara Kuzhambu, Step by step recipe:

Dice 200g senai into a cubes and then add 3 tbsp of thick tamarind extract(a lemon sized tamarind), ½ tsp salt. Pressure cook for 3 whistles(15mins in instant pot).

Heat a kadai, add 2 tbsp oil add 1 tsp mustard seeds let it splutter, 10 shallots, 1 tomato, curry leaves, saute well. Add 2 tbsp coriander powder, 2 tsp chili powder, 1.5 tsp salt. Add the cooked yam & Mix well cook till oil separates. 

Grind 2 tbsp coconut with 1 tsp fennel seeds + ½ cup water grind it to a fine paste. Add 1 cup of water, mix well cover & cook for 7 mins or till oil separates. Senai Kulambu Donne!

Step by Step Picture for Cabbage Poriyal,

I steamed cabbage, beans, carrot+1 tbsp chana dal+ 2tbsp water. Heat a pan with 2 tsp oil, add 1 tsp mustard seeds, 1 tsp urad dal, 2 dried red chilies, let the mustard seeds to splutter. Add the Steamed vegetables, + 1 tsp salt + 3 tbsp grated mix well. Just saute for 2 mins & then switch off. That’s it Cabbage Poriyal Donne!
