How to make Mysore Rasam Powder with coconut:
Roast the Toor dal, cumin seeds, black peppercorns, dry red chili, coconut in coconut oil and Powder it. Use dry coconut if you are making in large quantity and store it
Step by step Mysore Rasam Recipe:
Pre-Preparation: Cook the Toor dal with enough water and mash and keep aside.
Step: 1 Dry roast the Rasam Powder Ingredients, add jaggery and Powder it. Ground it to Fine Powder. Mysore Rasam Powder is ready.
Step: 2 Add chopped tomatoes in a pan and add water, Let it boil for few mins. Once the tomatoes become soft mash it. Add Tamarind Extract, Cooked Toor dal and mix well.
Step: 3 Add turmeric powder, Mysore Rasam Powder, and salt. Let it boil.
Step: 4 Heat ghee in a pan, add the mustard seeds, dry red chili, and Hing let to splutter. Drop over the Mysore Rasam and switch off the stove. Garnish it with coriander leaves and serve it with steamed rice. Simply you can have it as a soup.

- 1 tsp cumin seeds/seeragam
- 1 tbsp toor dal/thuvaram paruppu
- 2 tsp black pepper/milagu
- 2 dried red chilli/varamilagai
- ¼ cup coconut fresh / desiccated / dry
- ½ tsp jaggery
- Mysore Rasam Ingredients:
- 2 medium sized tomatoes finely chopped
- 1 cup tamarind juice
- ¼ tsp turmeric powder / haldi
- salt to taste
- 1 cup cooked toor dal
- 1 cup water add as required
- for tempering mysore rasam:
- 2 tsp ghee
- ¾ tsp mustard seeds / rai
- generous pinch hing / asafetida
- 2 dried red chilli
- few curry leaves
- 2 tbsp coriander leaves finely chopped
