Oats Pongal made with the Combo of Moong dal and Instant oats. You may Call it Oats khichdi, whatever it is, a healthy dish not only for weight reduction, it is a protein-loaded dish to start the day.
Many of you were looking for a low-calorie dinner. This oat Pongal is very good for dinner too. Oats are rich in fiber that will help avoid hunger pangs at night
To make this Oats Pongal I have used Quaker Oats which is very easy to cook within 5 mins. You can use any type of oats as per your choice.

- 1 cup oats
- ¼ cups of moong dal
- water ¼ + ½ cup
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 tsp ghee,
- 1 tsp cumin seeds,
- 1 tsp black peppercorns,
- 10 cashews,
- curry leaves
- Take ¼ cup Moong dal wash and Pressure cook along with ½ cup of water. Once cooked, mash it.
- Add ½ cup water + ½ tsp salt, let it boil, add 1 cup of Oats mix well without lumps.
- Keep it low flame and cook the oats. Since I have used instant oats it took around 2 to 3 mins to cook. If you are using any other oats varieties, cook till it turns soft and mushy. And also Increase the water quantity depends upon the Oats Quality. Once the oats are cooked well Switch off the stove.
- Heat a pan with 1 tsp ghee, add 1 tsp cumin seeds, 1 tsp black peppercorns, 10 cashews, curry leaves fry well till the cashew turns golden. Add this to the Pongal and mix well. Serve Pongal when it is Hot.
Adjust the water and cooking time according to the quality of the oats you use.
