Green Chana masala Sundal, Navratri Day 2 No onion No Garlic Recipe
Green Chana Sundal using Coriander Coconut Masala called Chana Masala Sundal for Navratri Day 2 Naivedyam. Chana is Kondakadalai in Tamil and Chickpeas in English. There are different types of Chana is available like Kala Chana(Karuppu Kondakadalai), White Chickpeas(Vellai KondaKadalai, today I made this Chana Masala sundal using the hara chana that is green chickpeas which is rich in protein, which is a satiating macronutrient, important for boosting muscle growth.
Chickpeas are Fiber-rich, keep you fuller for longer and protein satiates hunger. The fiber content in it also takes good care of your digestive system. We will get bored if we have is same old that along with the coconut. For a change, we can make the masala like this and have. This is malli that is coriander and coconut masala added which is very tasty and healthy.

Here is My No onion no garlic Menu, Since today is green I tried to make everything in green color which is healthy too. Made Karuvepilai Sadam, Baby Potato podi kari, Thayir Sadam and Chana Sundal. Everything is made without Onion and Garlic. For Recipes You can click on each title it will direct you to the respective recipes.
Step by Step Chana Masala Sundal recipe without Onion and Garlic:
Soak ½ cup of Chick Peas for 8 hours or Overnight(i used green chickpeas you can use any variety). After 8 hours Pressure cooks it with ¼ tsp salt for 3 to 4 whistles, till it becomes soft.
Take a small bunch of Coriander leaves, 3 green chilies, ½ cup grated coconut, ½ inch ginger Grind it without adding water, into a coarse paste(not fine).
Heat a pan add 1 tsp coconut oil, 1 tsp mustard seeds, ½ tsp urad dal, let the mustard seeds splutter. Add 2 dried red chilies, hing and curry leave.
Add the cooked chickpeas and freshly ground Coriander coconut paste, toss well. Add salt if required.
That’s it Flavourful Malli Sundal is ready for Naivedyam.
Notes:
Instead of Green chana you can use any variety of chana.
I made the coriander masala that is malli masala you can just give it a try with mint or curry leaves too. Healthier Version.
