“Homemade Raw Banana Chips”, Learn to make them perfectly crispy Vazhakkai chips easily at home❤️Flavored with black pepper or red chili powder, & salt, it is perfectly spicy and seasoned to tempt your tastes buds:) Easy and Crispy Raw Banana Chips(Vazhakkai Chips) is one tasty snack that can be loved by all the ages. “Vazhakkai” in Tamil means Raw Banana. All you need to make these chips are the green raw banana, salt & chili/pepper powder and some oil to deep fry! Recently I made Unnakaya(deep-fried banana fritters) it was a very good recipe and today I thought to share some banana recipe for the blog. I used the Vazhakkai chips slicer which is bought from amazon.ae and it is very useful. We can get very thin slices of Raw Banana.
How to make perfectly crispy Vazhakkai chips at home,
- Use a nice, sharp slicer to get thin and crispy chips.
- Washing the raw banana slices in water will remove the excess starch on the surface and provide even browning while frying. but I skipped because of a lack of time.
- I have added the Vazhakkai slices directly to the hot oil. You can make the slices in batch and fry them in hot oil.
- Always use Unripen Raw Bananas.

- 2 medium-sized Raw Bananas/vazhakkai/வாழைக்காய்
- 1 tsp Salt /உப்பு
- Oil - For frying/எண்ணெய் - பொரிப்பதற்கு
- ½ tsp Freshly ground black pepper - for seasoning
- ½ Red Chilli powder - for seasoning மிளகுத் தூள்/மிளகாய் தூள் - தேவையான அளவு
- heat oil in a pan/Kadai(keep it in low-medium flame).
- Wash the raw banana, trim the edges. Peel off the skin using a peeler.
- start slicing the raw banana/vazhakkai over the hot oil directly or slice them and fry in batches.
- Fry them evenly by turning them both the sides, till they turn golden.
- once fried remove them from oil over a tissue paper to drain the oil completely.
- Salted raw banana chips,
- Sprinkle some salt and toss it up and enjoy a plain salted version of Raw Banana Chips.
- Spicy Raw Banana Chips,
- Sprinkle some Pepper/chili powder, salt and toss it up and enjoy a spicy version of Raw Banana Chips.
Seasoning is completely up to your wish, you can sprinkle some chat masala to taste like[b]Haldirams Banana Chips[/b]
