Aloo Tamatar Sabzi Recipe, Potato Tomato Curry with detailed photo and video recipe. This Authentic Aloo Tamatar Sabzi is a unique way of preparing sabzi or semi-dry gravy made in a Pressure cooker. No onion no garlic curry which is an easy version of Sabzi or Curry which goes with rice or with poori, rotis.  Tamatar Chaman is a delicious sabzi made and posted here long back, In that post, I shared “How to blanch Tomatoes” and extract Puree from the Tamatar. To make the Aloo Tamatar I have used the Homemade Tomato Puree, Which is very easy and Quick Version of making “Potato Tomato Curry”  in a jiffy.  If you are working people no time to make Curry or sabzi then try this Aloo Tamatar it doesn’t need any grinding or cutting within 15 mins you can make this curry.

Aloo Tamatar ki sabzi is made in a pressure cooker under 15 mins and no onion and no garlic. A quick recap of Aloo Tamatar sabzi recipe, diced potatoes(Aloo) is tossed with spices and then boiled in tomato Puree (pulp extracted from tomatoes). Very simple Procedures.

Aloo Tamatar Sabzi Recipe, Potato Tomato Curry made in Cooker gives very soft and delicious aloo curry. We can make it as a Semi-dry or curry form by adding little Dahi(curd) to it. It is optional if you want a thin gravy you can add Curd or Cream. Dry Sabzi is good to have it with Rotis and Poori.

Aloo tamatar sabji recipe in pressure cooker

1.Add ghee or oil in pressure cooker. Fry the cumin seeds(jeera), Hing in the oil. Add the diced potatoes and fry well in the oil.

2. Add the tomato puree(If you are using tomatoes add it before adding the potatoes and fry well.Once it becomes soft and then add the potato and fry it).

3. Add the spice powders like chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well.

4. Add curd if you want your aloo Tamatar sabzi as a gravy or curry form. If you want it to be dry sabzi skip adding Dahi. Add water and pressure cook it for 3 whistles or until it becomes soft. Once done serve it with rice. Aloo Tamatar sabzi goes well with poori.

  • 250 g potatoes(Aloo), Peeled Diced
  • 2 tsp oil
  • 1 tsp Jeera
  • 1 cup Tomato Puree or 3 tomatoes finely chopped
  • ½ tsp chili powder
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ cup water(optional)
  • 1 tsp curd (optional)
