Kunafa Recipe with Cheese and double Cream Recipe, Step by step pictures and detail video is updated. Arabic Sweet/ Dessert Kunafa Recipe is very simple and easy that required very less time to make. Simple Kunafa Arabic Dessert is made of Kataifi, which is a thin strand of shredded phyllo dough. Kunafa can also be Pronounced like Knefeh and it is a very popular dessert in the Middle East. Recently I Made Kunafa at Home and Everyone’s question is that What is Kunafa and What is Kunafa Made of?Let me Explain in detail, Kunafa is a dessert and it is made of Cheese, cream and main ingredients kataifi. Kataifi looks like fine vermicelli(seviyan) but more thin than normal seviyan. Kunafa Seviyan also you can get in stores. there are several ways to make Kunafa.
There are several ways to make Kunafa. We can make Kunafa with Cheese, Kunafa with Cream and I have used Mozerella cheese and double cream to make Kunafa/knefah.
Preparing Kataifi at home video or Kataifi dough recipe will help you to make your own kataifi dough and you can make more kataifi Recipes. I bought Kataifi at Dubai on our recent trip. But we can get Kataifi online also here.
If you don’t get kataifi you can try with Roasted Pheni or Thin Seviyan(vermicelli semiya). Preparing Kunafa with Semolina, Yes we can make Kunafa with Roasted Semolina(suji/rava). There are 3 easy steps to make Kunafa, Step :1 Make the sugar syrup,
Make Sugar Syrup, add sugar in a pan.
Add water and let the sugar dissolve in the water. Stir well.
Once the sugar syrup reaches the thick consistency(gulab jamun syrup consistency) switch off the stove and then add the rose essence.
Mix Kataifi with sugar syrup and then divide it into 2 parts, one is for topping and another part is for the base.
Take orange food colour and butter to grease the tin.
Step : 2
Setting the layer of Kunafa with Kataifi.
Spread a layer of Kataifi without the sugar syrup. Spread it Evenly over the greased tin.
Add the Mozzarella Cheese over the kataifi layer. You can add any grated cheese on top of the kataifi.
Apply a thin layer of double cream over the cheese.
Apply another layer of kataifi without syrup and press it slightly.
Now add the remaining Sugar syrup over the Kunafa. Now bake it for 15 mins about 180 degrees celsius.
Step :3 Bake and Serve.
Once the sides started turning light brown, remove it from the oven. Let it cool down for some time. Slice and serve it. Kunafa is ready to serve.
Kunafa Recipe with Cheese and Cream Recipe Card:
- 2 cups kataifi / thin seviyan
- ½ cup grated Mozzarella cheese
- ⅓ cup double cream
- To make Sugar Syrup:
- 1 cup sugar
- ⅓ cup water
- 1 tbsp rose essence
- Make the sugar syrup,add sugar in a pan.
- Add water and let the sugar dissolve in the water. Stir well.
- Once the sugar syrup reaches the thick consistency(gulab jamun syrup consistency) switch off the stove and then add the rose essence.
- Mix Kataifi with sugar syrup and then divide it into 2 parts, one is for topping and another part is for the base.

- Apply another layer of kataifi without syrup and press it slightly.

- Now add the remaining Sugar syrup over the Kunafa. Now bake it for 15 mins about 180 degrees celsius.
- Kunafa Recipe is ready
- Once the sides started turning light brown, remove it from the oven. Let it cool down for some time. Slice and serve it. Kunafa is ready to serve.
If you keep in the kunafa in oven check in between how it is baking, once it started light brown on the side you can remove it from the oven.

Tips to make Perfect Kunafa,
- Sugar syrup consistency is very important, it should not be either too thick and thin. It’s like gulab jamun syrup consistency.
- You can make it with a Thin variety of seviyan or Roasted semolina also.
- You can make only with cream or only with cheese.
- You can add condensed milk while topping the layers. For more rich dessert.
- Don’t Burn while baking it so keep an eye on that while baking.
- Once you made and keep in the fridge again reheat it in an oven and serve it. Otherwise, it will become rubbery.
- We can store it even a month in the fridge if we handle it properly.
