First Pressure cook Toor dal with water, keep aside.
Grind the coconut with cumin seeds & green chili into a fine paste, keep aside.
eat a tsp of oil in a Kadai, add mustard seeds & urad dal. Let it splutter.
Add red chili & onion and saute well. Add the manathakkali keerai and saute well.
Add dal and mix well.
Add the grounded coconut paste, salt, and turmeric powder, mix well.
Finely, add the water. cover and cook for 5-10 mins in low flame. If you are using a pressure cooker just wait for 2 whistles and then switch off.
Once the Keerai becomes soft and the gravy thickens, remove it from the flame. Manathakkali keerai kootu is ready.

- 1 tsp urad dal
- 2 dry red chili
- ½ cup onion chopped
- 1 bunch Manathakkali keerai
- ⅓ cup Toor dal
- 2 tbsp grated coconut
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 2 green chili
- ½ tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp salt
