Christmas Fruit Mince Pies using Home Made Fruit mince
Traditional Christmas pies are made of minced fruits,”Fruit mince”.Home made mince pies are best because they have less sugar and mild flavors,do try this recipe it so easy to make.I made this using the puff pastry sheets you can make the outer cover on your own,i shared the recipe for the outer cover too.
How to make Fruit mince:
You Need:
1 cup Mixed Fruits(i used tutti fruti fruits)
1/2 cup Mixed Nuts
1/2 cup Brown Sugar
1/2 cup orange juice
2 tbsp lemon juice
Method:
- Finely chop the mixed fruits and add it in a large mixing bowl.
- Add the lime juice, orange juice.Cover with a plastic wrap and set it for 4-5 hours.
- After 5 hours remove the wrap and you can see that the fruits become ripen and shiny.
- Add the mixed fruits and stir in completely.Add the Brown sugar and spice powders, stirring occasionally & set aside overnight.
- Here is our yummy fruit mince is ready.See how shiny and ripen it was
Lets make Pie:
You need:
2 Sweet Puff Pastry sheets
Or
If you want to make outer cover:
you need:
1 cup plain flour
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1/4 cup butter at room temperature
2 tbsp milk
1 egg
Method:
If you want to make the outer cover on your own, add the flour and powdered sugar in a mixing bowl.Add in butter and egg, knead well. Finally add the milk and make it like the chapathi dough consistence. Then flatten it using the rolling pin and then proceed with the below step.
- No special pie maker is required we need just a muffin tin or a aluminium pie sheets and a small bowl with sharp end.
- If you are using puff pastry sheets thaw the pastry sheet and use the cup to cut it.If you don’t have the pie tin cut it using a bigger size cup because we need a small size and big size sheets.
- Set the sheet over the pie tin or you can set it in the muffin tin also.
- Drop 1 tbsp of filling inside the pie sheets and then cover it with the bigger size pastry sheet. Slightly press the corners and close it.
- Repeat the same for the remaining sheets and arrange it in a try or you can arrange it in a muffin tin for baking.
- Bake it for about 10-15 minutes at 180 degree Celsius or until it becomes golden brown.
