What is a Readymade mix or Premix ?
Readymade mixes are ready to mix powders or masalas, which you can just mix with rice and eat, or just a hunk of concrete that you can prepare with no time. There are 2 types of the Readymade mix wet and dry. Some in form of powders and wet mixes too. Usually, there are so many products available in the stores with preservatives, added colors, and chemicals. These ready-to-eat mixes which are available in stores can use for more than a year because they have preservatives, but if we make them at home are 100% Chemical free, so they are advised to finish them within 3 months. Homemade Readymade mixes not only saves our time, but it also reduces our stress if we are short of curries or Vegetables.

Ready to Make Rasam Powder Recipe
Ingredients
- 100g Tamarind
- 1 cup Toor Dal
- 1/2 cup coriander seeds
- 5 dried red chilies
- 1/2 cup pepper
- 1/2 cup cumin seeds
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/4 tsp hing
- 1 tbsp salt
Tempering dry ingredients
- 2 tbsp mustard seeds
- curry leaves
Instructions
- Take Tamarind, remove the seeds, fiber, separate it into pieces and then dry roast it. Transfer to a plate.
- Now dry roast Toor dal, coriander seeds, red chilies, pepper, cumin, Hing everything separately and transfer to the plate, cool down completely.
- Transfer them to a mixie jar and powder it along with turmeric powder & salt.
- Meanwhile into the same pan add mustard seeds, curry leaves dry roast it, mix this roasted mustard and curry leaves with the freshly ground powder, mix well. That’s it Rasam Pre Mix Powder Ready!
For simple rasam, Heat a pan with 2 chopped tomatoes add 1 liter water, let it boil well. Add 2 tbsp of rasam premix, adjust salt, once it starts to foam add coriander leaves and switch off. Instant Rasam Ready!

Step by Step Picture and Instruction for Rasam Premix:
Take 100g of Tamarind, remove the seeds, and fiber, separate it into pieces(if the tamaraind in rocks it willnot roast properly, so seperate it into pieces) and then dry roast it. The tamarind should be moist free, it will become dry in 4 to 5 mins time roasting on low flame. Transfer the roasted tamarind to a plate.
Now dry roast 1 cup toor dal, once the dal turns golden and crips transfer to a plate. Now roast ½ cup coriander seeds till you get nice aroma, transfer to a plate.
Roast ½ cup pepper, ½ cup cumin, ¼ tsp hing, 1/4 tsp methi seeds everything separately and transfer to the plate. Now roast 5 dried red chilies, cool down completely.
Meanwhile, in the same pan add 1 tbsp mustard seeds, and curry leaves dry roast them. Transfer to a plate. reserve it,keep aside.
Now take the roast ingredients transfer them to a mixie jar and powder it along with ¼ tsp turmeric powder & 1 tbsp salt.
Grind it to a coarse powder not a fine powder. Now mix this ground powder with reserved roasted mustard seeds and curry leaf, mix well. That’s it Rasam Pre Mix Powder Ready!
Store it in a airtight container, it will stay fresh for upto 3 months. Always use a dry spoon for taking the powder. Let’s make a simple rasam using this powder.
How to make Instant Rasam using Rasam Premix:
