Usually, people make knol khol sambar, knol khol poriyal, and knol khol kuttu but prepare chutney very rarely. It is one of the nattu kaikarikal that can be made for pandigai also.Pirandai Chutney is very big hit in my place, I equal love knol khol chutney.
You can have it with rotis too, but love to have it with dosa. I think this is my first knol khol recipe in my blog. Whenever you feel bored of usual chutney, then you can make this chutney. Whenever I buy knol khol I will make sambar never tried chutney. This time, while I visit my mom’s place she made this chutney,I can’t even guess the ingredients which she used to make the chutney. Then she told it was Knol khol. After returned from my trip I made this chutney and clicked. Usually, my family will not touch if I made any experiments in kitchen but without saying anything all had happily:)

Knol Khol is a root vegetable. As I told it has a lot of health benefits. You can check this link. It is also in purple colour but I never saw that in the market. While buying the kohlrabi don’t buy the cracked thick skin ones, always take the tender kohlrabi for making chutney.

Peel the skin of the knol khol and then cut it into medium sized pieces.
Dry roast the dry red chilly, garlic, toor dal and finally add the knol khol and saute for a while take out. Let them cool for a while and then add salt, grind it to a fine paste. Chutney is now ready to serve.
You can have the Kohlrabi chutney with dosa and idly.
Kohlrabi chutney, Knol Khol Chutney, Nool Kol Chutney recipe:
- 1 cup diced knol khol/kohlrabi
- 2 tbsp toor dal
- 4-5 dry red chillies
- 2 garlic pods
- salt as needed
