Kothamalli Thokku Recipe or Coriander leaves Thokku Recipe,  Kothamalli Thokku is the one which we can have it as an accompany with any variety rice or we can mix it with rice and have. Coriander Rice Recipe which I have posted is similar to thokku recipe but I made it like pulao and then mixed it with rice. Thokku is the pickled type we can make and store it for a long day and not much processing days and time required as other pickles. It is a very good option while we are travelling. We can have it roti and chapati also.

Whenever I find fresh coriander in the market I will get it and make thokku in large quantity. It goes well with curd rice. Today I have shared a little dry version of thokku you can make it little thin also if you are going to mixing it with rice and have.

Kothamalli Thokku or Coriander Thokku recipe, thokku is the accompanist of the rice and it is made of fresh coriander. It tastes bit sweet and sour. It is very good for health. Simple recipe,you can make and store even for a month also.

Ingredients
  • A thick bunch Coriander Leaves(kothamalli)
  • 1 gooseberry sized Tamarind
  • 5-6 Red Chilli(adjust to taste)
  • ¼ tsp Hing
  • 1 tsp Grated Jaggery
  • 2 tsp Oil
  • 1 tsp Mustard Seeds
Instructions
  1. Take out the Coriander leaves and thin stem. clean it.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and add tamarind, red chilli and saute it for a couple of minutes.
  3. Then add the saute red chilli and tamarind in a mixer and grind it nicely.
  4. Add washed and cleaned coriander leaves and grind it to a smooth paste by adding only a little water.
  5. Heat the remaining oil in the pan again and add the mustard seeds.
  6. When the mustard seeds start to sputter, add the ground coriander paste. Allow the paste to thicken
  7. After 10 minutes, you can see the oil starts oozing out of the thokku and the thokku would have become thick also.
  8. Add jaggery now and mix well and remove from flame.
  9. Now Coriander Leaves Thokku (Kothamalli Thokku) is now ready to serve!
