This kara boondhi recipe is very simple and easy recipe ,the  dashing of rice flour make this kara boondhi very cripsy and delicious.I have used pepper to make kara boondhi it’s very tasty not like not kara boondhi is it dashed with lot of pepper. Spicy kara boondhi is the addition of chilly powder.
South Indian kara boodhi is always goes well with rice also. For bisibellabath and few variety rice recipe they will add this as topping. Also for boondhi raita they make kara boondhi and then topped it. My mom makes this for evening sncaks as well.
Difference between the normal boondhi which we make for boondhi ladoo and kara boondhi is that for kara boodhi need to fry the boondhi more crips till it changes the golden colour but for boondhi ladoo should not fry more and need to take out immediately. lets see how to make spicy kara boondhi with pepper:
Sieve the besan flour,rice flour and then add it into a mixing bowl. Add water and salt, mix well without lumps. The amount of water depends on the the quality of the flour which you are using so adjust according to it. The mix should not be too thick or too thin. Heat oil in a kadai and the slowly drop the batter over the ladle. fry the round droplets(do fry it for long or till crispy)and then take it out in a plate. Repeat this for the remaining batter.
The boondhi should be crispy,keep it in a plate with kitchen towel on it. Now fry the curry leaves,you can fry peanut,cashew nuts and mix well the fried boondhi. Add pepper power and mix well.Kara boondhi is ready to serve.
TIPS ANDÂ SECRETSÂ TO MAKE KARA BOONDHI:
1. Sieve the besan flour before use and also get the course variety of besan flour.
2.Make the thin batter not so thick.
3. do fry the laddo for long OR till it become crisp, take it out once they fried well.If you didn’t fry for long it won’t be become crispy
4. i didn’t add the soda the boondhi came out well.
5. If you want more spicy kara boondhi then you can add chilly powder while sieving the flour.
6. You can add fried cashewnuts, peanuts, etc

- 1 cup Gram flour/ kadala maavu
- ½ cup Rice flour
- 1 tbsp Coarse Pepper powder
- Curry leaves - 1 sprig
- Oil - for deep frying
- water as needed
