Boil sugar and water on low flame.keep the flame on medium heat,Once the sugar gets dissolved, add cardamom powder and safforn stands. boil the sugar syrup until it becomes slightly sticky. We call this sticky consistency or pisu pisuppu patham in Tamil. Always keep the sugar syrup ready before frying the gulab jamuns.

trim the edges of the breads,cut and grind in mixie. You can do it in food processor also.

add the bread mix in a wide bowl and then add in the milk. knead the dough till you get the soft peal able dough.divide the dough and make small balls out of the dough.

fry gulab jamunHeat oil or ghee in a pan on medium heat,deep fry the balls and take it out.

indian sweetDrop the fried gulab jamun inside the sugar syrup and let it to soak atleast for 3 hrs and after 3 hrs you can serve it hot or cold.

Tips to make perfect gulab jamun;

  1. you can use any bread but milk bread is good to make this gulab jamun.
  2. I didn’t use any baking soda if you want you can add for more softness.
  3. This recipe calls for milk try to use thick or full cream milk or milk powder mixed with warm water.
  4. refrigerate it after use because we used milk for this recipe,i will get spoil if we keep it outside.
  5. for best result keep the dough for 15 mins covered and then start make the balls.

  • 5 bread pieces
  • ⅓ cup milk
  • oil for frying
  • For sugar syrup:
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ½ cup water
  • a tiny pinch saffron
  • ⅛ tsp cardamom powder
