Dahi Vada Recipe

Dahi Vada Recipe with step by step pictures and videos.  North Indian Version of Yogurt Soaked Vada Called Dahi Vada and the South Indian Version is called Thair Vadai. Let us see How to make Dahi Vada in detail. Dahi is Curd in Hindi and Thayir in Tamil. I like all kind of Dahi starters like Dahi Ke Sholay is one amazing starter even kids would love to have them.

Dahi Vada, the only chaat I love more than any other street food. Dahi Bhalla is also the similar version of Dahi vada with little more another thing like papadi and potato and cooked channa will be there. You can also check the Aloo  channa Chaat recipe that also simple version of chaat. Both are popular North Indian Snacks or Street Food Recipe. Simple Pav Bahji Recipe is also too good for an evening snack.

Actually, both the recipe clicked on different days. First, I took a picture for Dahi Vada. While having it HD asked me why you are not making Thayir Vadai nowadays. Then made the Thair Vada on the next day itself.  Wanted to post both at the same time. I love both the versions. I have already posted the Thayir vada and updated the pics there.

Dahi Vada and the Thayir vada is both same only but the garnishing part is different. In both the version, the Vada is soaked in hot water and then in Diluted Dahi(Thayir).

Garnishing for Dahi vada is with chat Chutneys, Chilly powder, and Sev. Dahi is bit sweeter than Thayir Vada. But in Thayir Vada, we temper the mustard seeds, urad dal, and curry leaves

will add that as the garnishing. Some people add the Grated carrot for Garnishing.

Very simple recipe, even with the left over vada also we can make it as a chat for the evening snacks. Kids love this as it contains a lot of dahi and sweet-sour tastes of dahi vada.

Make vada first, you can grind the batter in a mixie. soak the urad dal for 1 hour and then grind it to a smooth batter. Put salt and make ready. Make small balls and deep fry it in oil. Drain the oil and take it out. But in South Indian version we usually make vada by dropping a hole in the middle. Once you make the Vada Soak it in water for 1/2 hr to remove the excess oil and also the vada become softer if we soak it.
