No words to explain Kovil Puliyodharai Preparations, the whole house smells and feels divine. Saturdays mostly some varieties of rice for Perumal naivedyam. Ellorai, Ulunthorai, and last week I made Temple-style Puliyodharai with freshly ground puliyodharai powder. While grinding the powder itself the whole house smells like heaven and then potato Kari must on kid’s demand🤣.
🔥4 ingredients must be in kovil puliyodharai Sesame seeds(Karuppu ellu), Fenugreek seeds(vendhayam), Pepper(milagu), Mustard seeds(kadugu).

📝How to make Puliyodharai Powder:
Roasting ingredients is very important, dry roast 1 tbsp black sesame seeds, 1 tbsp Mustard seeds, 1 tbsp pepper, ¼ tsp methi seeds, 1 tbsp coriander seeds, 5 dried red chilies.
Each and every ingredient should roast individually. Cool down and then powder it with a generous amount of Hing. Puliyodharai Powder ready!
📝How to make Pulikachal:
Soak 1 Lemon size Tamarind in ½ cup water for 15 mins, extract thick juice and keep aside. Into a heavy-bottomed Kadai add 2 tbsp gingelly oil(nallennai), 1 tsp mustard seeds, 1 tsp chana dal, 1 tsp urad dal, let the mustard seeds splutter, and then add a pit full of peanuts, roast well till it turns crispy. Add 5 red chilies, roast well.
Now add the Thick Tamarind extract, ¼ tsp turmeric powder, 1.5 tsp salt mix well. Keep in Low flame Let it boil for 5 to 7 mins till the raw smell goes. Now add Puliyodharai powder, mix well. Cook for 2 to 3 mins till oil separates. That’s Pulikachal ready!
Kovil Puli Sadam(Temple Puli Sadam):
Cook 2 cups of rice to cool down completely, add the pulikachal mix with your clean hand. According to your taste buds adjust salt.mix, it. That’s it Puli Sadam Ready!
How to make Kovil Puliyodharai recipe card, Temple Puliyodharai recipe:
- For Puliyodharai Powder
