Potato Fry Recipe, South Indian Style Potato Fry Recipe. Spicy Side dish for Sambar and Rasam. This is my Mom Style Potato Fry recipe with Lot of onions. Simple Dal and Potato fry is more than enough for a complete lunch. Here is have attached the Recipe video for your reference.

Another Style of potato fry is there in that method simply cut the potatoes into small size pieces and then roast in oil with chilly powder and salt. That goes well for chappathi and rotis. But today’s recipe is simple potato fry. This takes bit time but taste is so excellent. Boil the potato in pressure cooker for 3 whistle or till it becomes soft. Once boiled peel the skin and then cut into medium sized pieces and keep aside. Heat the oil and then temper it with mustard seeds and split urad dal. Add curry leaves, sliced onions and saute it. Finally add the boiled potatoes, chilly powder, turmeric powder and salt mix well.

Roast as much as possible. Keep the flame in medium and fry it. Once the potatoes stared turning to golden brown stwitch off the stove. Simple potaoto fry is ready to serve. Secret is that thinly sliced onions should turn golden brown and also potato should turn golden brown then only you will get the taste Potato Fry. If both are sogy the taste won’t be nice.

Ingredients
  • 3 medium sized potatoes, boiled and pealed
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp split urad dal
  • Hing
  • A sprig curry leaves
  • 1 big onion sliced
  • 1 tsp chilly powder
  • ⅓ tsp turmeric powder
  • salt as needed
Instructions
