Garlic Pickle Recipe, Tomato Garlic Pickle, Poondu Oorugai with detailed photo and video recipe. Instant Garlic Pickle Recipe – a popular Indian pickle recipe prepared with Garlic(poondu) and tomato combo. Garlic Pickle Recipe, Tomato Garlic Pickle, Poondu Oorugai have shared quite a few pickle recipes till now, but Garlic Tomato pickle has highly requested the recipe. hence I thought of sharing this Spicy and delicious Poondu Oorugai recipe made with Puree tomato(Thakkali) which gives semi dry gravy texture to the pickle. This gravy we can have it with chapati or with rice too.
I call it Instant Garlic Tomato Pickle because it can be made under 30 mins and no soaking and processing is needed. No need sunlight and no artificial preservatives added we can use it for a month if we store it properly.

Garlic tomato Pickle Recipe or Poondu Oorugai Video Recipe:
Recipe Card For Garlic tomato Pickle,
- 1& ½ Cup Garlic Cloves(peeled)
- 1 cup finely chopped tomatoes
- 1&1/2 tsp Mustard seeds( roasted)
- 1 tsp Fenugreek seeds( roasted)
- 10 Dry Red Chillies (roasted)
- 1-1/2 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp crushed jaggery
- 1 tsp Turmeric Powder
- ⅓ cup Gingelly Oil
- ¼ tsp Hing Powder
- Dry roast the dry red chili, mustard seeds and methi seeds(Vendhayam). Make sure that it should not burn. Powder it and keep aside.
- Heat oil in a pan and add ½ cup peeled garlic cloves and saute well.
- Add the chopped tomatoes and saute along with the garlic cook well till the tomatoes become soft and mushy.
- Once the tomatoes and garlic become soft drain the oil, cool down completely and grind it to a smooth paste.
- Now heat the same pan temper with mustard seeds, once mustard seeds splutter add hing, and remaining garlic and saute well.
- Add the grounded tomato-garlic paste, pickle powder, turmeric powder and salt, mix well.
- cover and cook well, till the oil oozes and finally add the crushed jaggery, saute and remove it from the stove.
- Garlic Tomato pickle is ready to serve.
