Sarkarai valli Kizhangu(Sweet Potato) Dosai



Sarkarai Valli Kizhangu(Sweet Potato) Dosai is my mom’s recipe.She makes dosai in both sarkarai valli kizhangu and also in Maravalli Kizhangu(Tapioca).This dosai doesn’t require fermentation.It is one of the easiest tiffin preparation even for beginers.You can try this recipe in Maravalli Kizhangu(Tapioca) also.Here is the recipe…



Sweet Version:



Ingredients:

1 cup Idly Rice
1/4 cup Sarkarai Valli Kizhangu,grated 
1/4 cup grated Jaggery/brown sugar(i used brown sugar)
2-3 Cardamom(optional) 
a pinch Salt
1/2 cup grated Coconut
Oil as needed



Method:


  • Soak rice in water for 2 hours.Grind to batter and set aside.



  • Peel the skin and grate the kizhangu(sweet potato).
  • Grind the grated sweet potato,grated jaggery/brown sugar,cardamom,salt into fine paste.Cardamom is optional,if you don’t like the smell.you can avoid  it.


  • Mix sweet potato batter with the rice batter
  • Add the grated coconut,mix well.


  • Heat the dosa tawa and prepare thin dosa,dribble a little oil around the edges.
  • Prepare some mini dosa,kids love to eat it.


This goes well with simple cocout chuteny.


Savoury Version:



Ingredients:


1 cup Idly Rice
1/4 cup grated Sarkarai valli Kizhangu(sweet potato)
2-3 Dry Red chillies(if u want more spicy,you can add one more)
1/2 tsp Jeera
a pinch Hing
Salt as needed
Oil  as needed

Method:

  • Soak rice in water for 2 hours.Grind to batter and set aside.

  • Peel the skin and grate the sweet Potato.Grind the grated sweet potato with red chillies and salt into fine paste.
  • Mix both the batter well and add the jeera and hing,mix them well.


  • Heat the dosa tawa and prepare thin dosa,dribble a little oil around the edges.

Serve dosa with your favorite chutney.
