This time I planned for North Indian Thali as they are North Indians. I always check with people what they like and what they don’t before preparing anything. According to that, I planned the menu.
I planned for rice, roti, Sabzi, dal, makhani & a sweet. I didn’t prepare any starter, because short of time. My

How i made this North Indian Thali Quickly,
The first step I started with making Dough for Phulkas, as it needs some resting time. here is the Phulka recipe video if you want to make a Perfect Phulkas check this video,
The next one I pressure cook the dal, rice, and potato in an Instant pot(POT IN POT METHOD),
Kept Rice, dal, and potatoes in Instant Pot and Cooked in high for 15 mins, all cooked very well.
Now in a jiffy, I started to make the Aloo methi Sabji. Aloo methi is a classic Punjabi side dish made with potatoes and fenugreek leaves, I don’t have the fresh methi leaves I used the dry methi leaves recipe below.
Dice 2 Potatoes(aloo) into small cubes and boil them, Heat a pan with 1 tsp butter or ghee, add 1 tsp Cumin seeds, let it splutter. Add Boiled Potatoes, 1/4 tsp turmeric powder, 1 tsp chili powder, 1/4 tsp garam masala, 1 tsp salt. Saute in medium flame for 5 mins till the potatoes turn golden. If you are using fresh methi leaves add them and saute well. If you are using the Dried ones add it at the end process just toss and then switch off. Aloo Methi is ready to serve.
Next is Dal Fry, Dal fry we can make using Toor dal, Moong dal, or masoor dal (pink or orange lentils). Dal Fry is very easy simply cooked plain dal with the turmeric powder and asafoetida(hing). finally tadka
Pressure cook 1/2 cup Dal with a pinch of turmeric powder & hing till they turn soft and mushy. Heat a pan with 2 tbsp ghee, add 1 tsp cumin seeds, 2 dried red chilies, 1/2 tsp chili powder, 1/2 tsp salt fry well. add the 1 onion finely chopped, fry well. Add the cooked dal, mix well with tadka. Simmer for 5 mins and then switch off Garnish with Coriander leaves. That’s it Dal fry is ready to serve.
Next is Creamy and Rice Mushroom Butter Masala, The Mushroom Makhani recipe video below,
Restarant Style Jeera Rice,
Cook 2 cups of Basmati rice, Cool Down Completely. Heat 2 tbsp Ghee in a pan add 1 tsp cumin seeds, let it splutter, keep in medium flame add the rice and saute well. Finally, add the coriander leaves and switch them off.
