Instant Kollu rasam(Horse gram soup) recipe Card
- 2tbsp horse gram
- ½ cup of water(for pressure kollu)
- 1 small lemon sized tamarind in ½ cup water, extract the juice.
- 2 tomatoes mashed
- curry leaves,
- 5 garlic cloves,
- 2 tsp black pepper,
- 3 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 cup water(for rasam)
- 1 & ½ tsp salt,
- ¼ tsp turmeric powder
- coriander leaves(garnish)
- For tempering,
- 1 tsp ghee,
- ½ tsp mustard seeds,
- 3 dried red chili,
- hing
- Soak 2tbsp horse gram in water overnight. Pressure cook it with ½ cup of water until it becomes soft. Grind the boiled kollu along with the water, set it aside. Soak 1 small lemon sized tamarind in ½ cup water, extract the juice.
- Heat a saucepan add Tamarind extract, 2 tomatoes mashed, curry leaves, 5 garlic cloves, 2 tsp black pepper, 3 tsp cumin seeds ground in mortar pestle into coarse powder add it.
- Add ground kollu + 1 cup water mix well. Add 1 & ½ tsp salt, ¼ tsp turmeric powder. Keep in medium flame let it boil.
- Meanwhile prepare the tempering, with ghee, mustard seeds, dried red chili, hing. Once the rasam started to foam on top add the fresh coriander leaves & switch off the stove.
- Finally, add the tempering and mix well. Kollu rasam Ready!!
Avoid adding rasam powder, use the freshly ground powder that to don’t grind it smooth powder, it should be coarse for best aroma.
