Chocolate Cake and an Award



Today Am so Happy and excited,because both my Mocha Cake and Cotton Cheese Cake Recipes were won The Best cake recipe award at Priya’s space.Thank You So much Anita for choosing my cake.Special Thanks to Priya Mahadevan for initiated me to forward my recipes. 



Chocolate Cake Recipe:
Ingredients:
20g Chocolate Emulco
50g Cocoa Powder
200ml Warm Water
260g Butter
300g Castor Sugar
1/2tsp Salt
4 Eggs
1 tsp Vanilla Essence
250g Plain Flour
1/2tsp Sodium Bicarbonate
1tsp Baking Powder


Ganache:
300g Cooking Chocolate
50g Butter
50g Fresh cream


For Decoration:
200g Whipping Cream + Chocolate Ganache.
100g Chocolate Rice.


Method:

  • Add the Chocolate Emulco and Cocoa Powder in a mixing bowl.
  • Then add warm water and mix them well without lumps.
  • In an another mixing bowl,add butter,Castor sugar,salt and vanilla essence.
  • Add eggs in the butter mixture and beat them well till light and fluffy.
  • Add this butter mixture with the Cocao mixture and mix well.
  • Shift the Plain flour,Sodium Bicarbonate and Baking Powder.
  • Fold in with the batter,mix well. 
  • Grease the sides of the tin with oil and bottom with wax paper.
  • Transfer the batter into the greased tin.
  • Preheat the oven and Bake it for 180 degrees Celsius for about 30-45 minutes.
  • Once done cool the cake completely in a wired rack,before frosting.
  • Meanwhile,Prepare the chocolate ganache by Double boiling the Cooking Chocolate,Fresh Cream and Butter,stir and cook until melted.
  • Beat the whipping cream till light and fluffy.
  • Mix the chocolate ganache with the whipped cream and mix them well.
  • Cut the Chocolate cake into two layers and spread the chocolate cream on first layer.
  • Stack up the second layer neatly and spread the chocolate cream on top.
  • Then spread the cream over the whole cake.

  • Lets start decorating the sides of the cake.I tried the basket weave design,using the wave tip piping.First pipe a vertical line and then draw a short horizontal lines on top of the vertical line.
  • Then Pipe another vertical line at the end of the horizontal stripes.
  • Again pipe horizontal lines across,this time fitting them between the first set of horizontal lines.
  • Pipe another vertical line against the end of the horizontal line and repeat alternating horizontal lines and vertical lines,until the whole sides of the cake is Covered.
  • On top decorate the cake with Chocolate rice.
  • Pipe the sides with flower design using star tips

Here is the Chocolate Cake is ready,Chill in fridge for a few hours before serving.

  7. I must make this for my daughter. It’s divine! I love the step by step instructions, I’m going to print it now. I noticed you like classical dance. I do too. I lived in New Delhi for 5 years and took up Bharat Natyam, it was my passion. I wasn’t good at abhinaya but I was good at dancing. My guru was from Tamil Nadu, Guru Dakshinamoorthy. From India we once went to Singapore for a holiday and saw the famous zoo with those adorable orang-utangs, I still have the picture where I’m holding one together with my daughter.

  8. hi de cake luks so tempting. wanna try it out but whats choclate emulco. im from srilanka and i dont tink its available here so is there a substitute for choclate emulco.

    Can we use any chocolate syrup…..instead of chocolate emulco…..n also if chocolate emulco is not available …can i use same amount of cocoa powder……??
