Kids Uthappam Recipes:


Ingredients:

Par boiled rice – 4 cups,
Urud dal -1/2 cup,
fenugreek seeds – 2 tsp

Method of Preparation:

Soak the above in water for about 4 – 5 hours and grind into a fine flour.
Leave it for about 8 hours to become sour.
This is the Method of Preparation of Uthappam flour.

Onion Uthappam:

Ingredients:

Chopped onions 2
Uthappam Flour 1 cup
Oil 2 tsp

Heat a dosa tawa and spread a tsp of oil over it.
When it becomes hot enough, place a laddle of flour and spread on it(it should be thicker than a normal dosa).
Spead the chopped onions on the top.
When it is cooked on one side, turn over, add a tsp of oil all over its edge and remove when fully cooked. Serve with Iddly Powder.

Tomato Uthappam:

Ingredients:

Chopped  onion 2
Chopped tomatoes 2
Uthappam Flour 2 cups
Oil 2 tsp

Method of Preparation:

Heat a dosa tawa and spread a tsp of oil over it.
When it becomes hot enough, place a laddle of flour and spread on it(it should be thicker than a normal dosa).
Spead the chopped onions and tomatoes on the top.
When it is cooked on one side, turn over, add a tsp of oil all over its edge and remove when fully cooked. Serve with Iddly Powder.

Green Bell peppers Uthappam:

Ingredients:

Chopped Bell Peppers 1/2
Chopped tomatoes 2
Uthappam Flour 2 cups
Oil 2 tsp
Method of Preparation:

When it becomes hot enough, place a laddle of flour and spread on it(it should be thicker than a normal dosa).
Spead the chopped Bell peppers and tomatoes on the top.
When it is cooked on one side, turn over, add a tsp of oil all over its edge and remove when fully cooked. Serve with Iddly Powder.

Spicy Uthappam:

Ingredients:
Idly Powder 1 tsp
Uthappam Flour 2 cups
Oil 2 tsp

Method of Preparation:

Heat a dosa tawa and spread a tsp of oil over it.
When it becomes hot enough, place a laddle of flour and spread on it(it should be thicker than a normal dosa).
Spead the Idly powder on the top.
When it is cooked on one side, turn over, add a tsp of oil all over its edge and remove when fully cooked. Serve with Curd.

Chat Uthappam:

Ingredients:

Oil 2 tsp
Mixed chats 2 tsp
Uthappam Flour 2 cups

Method of Preparation:

Heat a dosa tawa and spread a tsp of oil over it.
When it becomes hot enough, place a laddle of flour and spread on it(it should be thicker than a normal dosa).
Spead the mixed chats on the top.
When it is cooked on one side, turn over, add a tsp of oil all over its edge and remove when fully cooked. Serve with Iddly Powder.

Vegetables Uthappam:

Ingredients:

Mixed vegetable 1/4 cup
Uthappam Flour 2 cups
Oil 2 tsp

Method of Preparation:

Heat a dosa tawa and spread a tsp of oil over it.
When it becomes hot enough, place a laddle of flour and spread on it(it should be thicker than a normal dosa).
Spead the Mixed vegetables on the top.When it is cooked on one side, turn over, add a tsp of oil all over its edge and remove when fully cooked.
Serve with Iddly Powder.

  1. I also normally use dosa batter for uttappam..next time will try your proportion..this colourful spread of uttappam is tempting for elders too
