Sabudana Khichdi
Sabudana Khichdi, a dish specially made during fasting.Sabudana (sago) cooked with potatoes and crushed peanuts makes the dish delicious.It is usually made during fasting(vrat) days like navratri or mahashivratri or ekadashi.It is very simple and easy breakfast Recipe.



Before Proceeding with the recipe let me share some tips how to soak Sabudana to make Khichdi,
Step:1
Sabudana Khichdi

  • Wash the sabudana (sago) under running water atleast 3 times or until the starch completely washed off.

Step:2
Sabudana Khichdi

  • Drop little water just enough to ensure that they are damp.Cover it and leave it for overnight.
  • To check if the sabudana have become soft or not, you should be easily able to press the sabudana.If you keep these tips in mind while making the Khichdi you can make perfect khichdi.

Ingredients:Sabudana Khichdi
1 cup sabudana Tapioca pearls Sago
2 Potatoes pealed and diced
1 tsp Cumin seedsJeera
1/3 tsp Turmeric Powder
A sprig Curry Leaves
1-2 Green Chillies Finely chopped
2 tbsp Roasted Peanuts
2 tsp Lime juice
Rock salt as needed

Method:

Sabudana Khichdi

  • Heat oil in a pan and temper the jeera,curry leaves and green chillies,fry well.
  • Drop the diced potatoes and fry well in the oil.Add turmeric powder and salt,mix well.Let the potato to cook  for few seconds.
  • Drain the water completely and then drop the soaked sago into the kadai and mix well.

Sabudana Khichdi

  • Once done add in the roasted peanut and mix well.Switch of the stove and then finally add the lime juice and mix well.

My Notes:

  • Adding turmeric powder is optional,you can also skip it.
  • You can add grated coconut at the final step.
