Thavala Adai Recipe | Easy and Healthy Snack Recipe
As I announced earlier, am going to introduce my friend’s recipe today.Let me introduce her first.She is Vakula Arvind.She is very close to me and was my class mate from school to college.When i informed her about the VIP Event,she agreed and immediately came back with a recipe.Thank you so much Vakuls.

Hi All,
I am Vakula Arvind ,worked as a s/w programmer.Currently not working and taking care of my little one.
Prema is my close friend.She is doing a great work and i want to be a small part of it .Her recipes are very tempting and made me to cook more.
Yeah, this crispy adai is very delicious and very filling food.My MIL use to make this very often at home and thought to share the same with u all.Hope u will also like this . Thanks Prema, making me a small part in this dear.
Ingredients:
3/4 cup Par Boiled Rice
3/4 cup Raw Rice
2 tbsp Thoor Dal
2 tbsp Moong Dal
2 tbsp Urud Dal
Hing A Pinch
Salt as needed
For Seasoning:
1 tbsp + 1/4 cup oil
1 green chilly
1 sprig curry leaves
1/2 tsp mustard seed
1/2 tsp urud dal
A hand ful Grated coconut
1/2 inch ginger
Method:
- Soak both the dals and rice together for 2 hours.
- Drain the water and grind the rice and dal along with salt and hing.
- Add water little by little and grind it like idly batter consistency.
- Finely chop the chillies ,ginger and make ready the tempering things.
- Heat oil in a kadai and season the above ingredients except grated coconut.
- After seasoning, add the grinded batter and then add the grated coconut.Stir well and it will come to upma consistency, now switch off and allow it to cool for sometime.
- Now,Heat the pan.Grease your hand with little oil.Take one lemon size mix.
- Press in between our hands and make it like adhirasam.
- Make 3 or 4 adai same like above and fry it in pan and sprinkle little oil around the edges.
- Cover and cook for sometime.
- Open the lid and check the corners turns brown or not,if not cook until it turn golden brown at the corners.
- Turn the other side and cook,till the corners turns brown.Take it out in a plate and repeat the same for rest of the mix.
Serve hot with green or tomato chutney or simply with any pickle.
My Amma used to make it and I have not had it after that. Nice to see this recipe and thanks for sharing it.
