My Answer: Usually the Paruppu Urundai Kuzhambu is thin before we add Urundai to them once added we show not slow down the flame. It show be medium to high. If heat is low the Urundai dissolves and the curry becomes too thick.
2.Readers usual Query: ” Why Paruppu Urundai Kulambu becomes very thick?”
My Answer: There 2 ways of making the Paruppu Urundai one is Make the balls and directly drop inside the Kuzhambu and another method is to steam the balls and adding it to the Kulambu. If you want to add the Urundai directly to the Kuzhambu at add once the Kuzhambu boils well and after adding keep the flame medium to high don’t reduce the flame. In method just steam the Urundai and add it to the Kuzhambu you will get perfect Kulambu.

Step by step Paruppu Urundai Kulambu Making and Preparation Methods below:
Let’s Make the Paruppu Urundai First,
Soak channa dal and Toor dal in water at least for 2 hours. drain the water and transfer to a blender jar. Add dry red chili & salt. grind it to a coarse paste.
Transfer the grounded Urundai Maavu to a bowl and Add finely chopped garlic and onion and mix well.
Wash the murungai Keerai leaves and Add the Murungai Keerai/drumstick leaves and mix well.make balls and steam well in an idli steamer.
Heat oil in a pan and then add the mustard seeds, let it to temper. Now add the onions, tomato and curry leaves.saute well.
Add the spice powder like turmeric powder, chili powder and coriander powder.
Add the Tamarind extract and a cup water boil well. Before adding the dal ball.
Once the balls cook well switch off the stove. Paruppu Urundai Kuzhambu is ready to serve.
- to make urndai we need:
- ¾ cup channa dal
- ¼ cup toor dal
- 2 dry red chilies
- salt to taste
- 1 onion finely chopped
- 2 garlic pods minced
- 1 hand full drumstick leaves(murungai keerai)
- To make Kuzhambu we need:
- 1 onion chopped
- 1 tomato chopped
- 1 sprig curry leaves
- 1 lemon sized tamarind(extract the juice)
- 1 cup water
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 2 tbsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- salt as needed
