Ingredients
  • 1 cup raw rice
  • ½ cup toor dal
  • 3 & ½ cup water
  • 1 tbsp chickpeas
  • 1 tbsp peanuts
  • 1 field beans
  • 1 tsp oil
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 2 dried red chiles
  • thing
  • 10 shallots
  • 1 tomato chopped
  • 250g mixed vegetables chopped
  • 1 & ⅓ tsp salt
  • For roast & grind
  • 1 tsp oil
  • 1 tbsp coriander seeds
  • 2 tsp chana dal
  • 2 dried red chilies
  • ⅓ water
Instructions
  1. Soak 1 tbsp chickpeas, 1 tbsp peanuts, 1 tbsp field beans overnight or 3 hours in the water, set aside.
  2. Soak the 1 cup rice and ½ cup dal for 15mins before cooking.
  3. Soak a small lemon sized Tamarind in water for 15 mins, in ½ cup water extract the juice, set aside.
  4. In to a pan roast the 1 tbsp coriander seeds, 2 tsp chana dal, 2 dried red chilies with a tsp of oil. Fry till the dal turns light golden and then transfer it to mixie add ⅓ cup water grind it to a smooth paste.
  5. Let's Cook the Kadamba Sadam In Instant Pot:
  6. Set the Instant Pot in saute mode, add 1 tsp ghee, add 1 tsp mustard seeds, ¼ tsp methi seeds, thing & dried red chilies, saute well. Let the mustard seeds splutter.
  7. Add 10 shallots, 1 chopped tomato, curry leaves, saute well. Add mixed vegetables of your choice. saute for 2 mins and then cancel the saute mode, turn off the Instant Pot. Before adding other ingredients, Turn off the IP from saute mode, it helps to prevent the burn signal in the newer models.
  8. Now add the soaked beans without water, add the tamarind extract, Ground fresh masala, 1 & ⅓ tsp salt. ¼ tsp turmeric powder. mix well.
  9. Add the soaked ½ cup dal+ 1 cup rice+3 & ½ cups of water, mix well.
  10. Close the Instant Pot. Ensure that vent should be in the sealing position. Pressure cook for 10 minutes at low-pressure mode and then release the pressure manually.
  11. You can see little water floating on top, if you want mushy rice then mix again set 5 more mins in low-pressure mode, you will get the mushy Kadamba Sadam.
  12. If you want the grainy rice, no need to cook again just mix it well, the water will get absorbed by itself in few minutes.
Notes
Soak dal & rice before cooking so that it will cook very fast.
you can use vegetables of your choice.
adding beans enhance the taste so don't skip it
