Finely, add the water. cover and cook for 5-10 mins in low flame. If you are using a pressure cooker just wait for 2 whistles and then switch off.
Once the keerai becomes soft and the gravy thickens, remove it from the flame. Manathakkali keerai kootu is ready.

clean and chop the manathakkali keerai and keep ready before cooking. ground the coconut and cumin + chili into a fine paste and add it to the kootu for more tasty manathakkali keerai kootu. Don't skip this step.
