Easy Vada Pav Recipe, Step by Step Mumbai Pav Vada Chutney

Vada Pava is stuffed with Batta Wada(Vada).Batta Wada is a spicy seasoned potato fried in a gram flour(besan) batter.

Ingredients
  • For besan batter(gram flour batter):
  • 1 cup besan/gram flour
  • pinch of asafoetida / Hing
  • water as required
  • salt to taste
  • For Potato(aloo) stuffing:
  • 2 potatoes boiled, peeled and mashed
  • 1 tbsp ginger finely chopped
  • 2 green chilies finely chopped
  • ½ tsp mustard seeds
  • pinch of asafoetida / Hing
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • ⅓ cup coriander leaves chopped
  • 1 tsp lemon juice(i didn't add)
  • salt to taste
  • For assembling one vada pav:
  • 2 tbsp green chutney
  • 2 tbsp garlic chutney
  • 1 pav bun
  • 1 Batta vada(Wada)
  • 1 fried green chili
Instructions
  1. Making the Besan Batter(gram flour batter) for Batta Vada:
  2. Take a bowl add the gram flour(besan flour), salt and water mix well without any Lumps.
  3. The batter consistency should be neither thick nor thin. Once you mix the batter keep aside and make the Batta Wada for vada pav.
  4. Direction to prepare Batta Vada(Wada):
  5. First Boil the potatoes and peel the skin. Mash it and keep aside.
  6. heat oil in a pan. add mustard seeds, Hing and let it splutter.
  7. Add finely chopped green chilies and ginger, saute.
  8. add chopped coriander leaves.
  9. Add the mashed potatoes and mix well.
  10. Add turmeric powder, salt, and lime juice, mix well.
  11. Let the vada mixture to cool down and then make small balls.
  12. Dip the balls inside the Prepared Gram flour batter(besan batter) and drop it into the hot oil.
  13. Deep fry it till golden and remove it from the stove.
  14. Batta Vada(Wada) is ready now.
  15. Assembling the Vada Pav:

  17. Dry garlic chutney recipe, make and keep ready.
  18. Slice the vada pav into ¾, make sure that you are the slice it into the half
  19. spread the dry garlic chutney powder at the one side of the pav and the other side with green chutney.
  20. Place Batta Wada(Vada) in between the Pav and a fried chili inside, serve immediately.
Notes
I forgot to add lemon juice while making the Vada, please add while you make.
